Sono Qui. Standing in front of a green screen backdrop in a public park in Boston, video participants answered the question: “If you could be anywhere, where would you want to be?” Through a post-production editing process Gruman and Simms transported them to an array of fantasy locations. During the global pandemic of 2020 and in the context of international border closings, racial and social injustices causing barriers to mobility across the United States , and a parlous national presidential election, artists Anna Gruman and Jeannie Simms, created the video “Sono Qui: Boston” while in residence at the Brookline Arts Center.
